Film Poster Images

This photo shows Lucy looking away from the camera, with a very scared expression on her face (a common expression within our photos).

This photo shows Lucy again in a very similar pose, but this time was to experiment more with expression and atmosphere and decided to see how the image would look if she was even more terrified.

This shot was a midshot, and one of the first of many tries on trying to get Lucy's hair whipping around as though she has turned around really fast - maybe with paranoia through a creaky floorboard or more explicitly the voice of the stalker expressing his presence.

This is a more dramatic representation of the image above, again experimenting how expression can truly alter the picture and its mise-en-scene.

This is more artistic and sophisticated, but still achieves the same effect as the above.

Maybe Isabelle is talking to the stalker? Her face portrays confusion and terror at the same time. Again experimenting with expression.

A midshot yet again, but this was more artistic and sophisticated then the others. It gives more of an impression of her hearing a noise from maybe upstairs for example. Her face and body posture is more self-comforting, and looks as though she is trying to reassure herself. It is also more curious and less blunt then the above photos.

These were taken during our photoshoot session. It was simple enough, as we knew that we needed photos for our film poster. And so with this opportunity, photos were taken on our protagonist 'Isabelle' played by Lucy, whilst the group composed what we agreed to be the best actions and poses for the photos to help create a tense atmosphere to fit with our story. These were some of the best outcomes of the shoot. Firstly, we thought hardly about our mise-en-scene and came up with various ideas.

(NB. The photos are very large and will be rescaled! Also ignore the red eye as these will also be edited shortly! :) )

01. Firstly, Lucy walking down a dark alley with a shadowy figure behind her. We thought that this was too conventional and predictable for the genre, but realised that dark lighting and rain (if we could have timed it properly) could create quite a beautiful (yet errie) and sophisticated image but realised we couldn't be weather and time reliant.

02. Our second idea was that the house was a very good place for a photo. So, thinking through the house, we thought of the connotations of the rooms. For example, the bedroom connotes isolation, relaxation and comfort. This seemed quite reasonable, but thought that it may be more fitting for a romance or something similar. We also thought of a lounge as that too connotes comfort but thought it may be too comfortable. So we decided the Kitchen, as it was the perfect model with a window, so some atmosphere was created, and through normal actions such as washing up we could create a sense of verisimilitude and alter this with Lucy doing a twirl so her hair would cascade everywhere and still create a beautiful yet thriller based image. This is what we ended up doing.

After our photoshoot we established how the expression and posture of our actress would really affect the connotations being given on the film poster or any other images/sites/mediums it would be used in, and that it was good how we did experiment with our ideas as we came out realising how important these ideas were and had to capture them.
