THRILLER GENRE

Originally we were going to film our film within the Rom-Com genre, but after a lot of discussion and other issues (such as casting and filming) we decided that it may be easier for us to change the genre; and so we decided we would go with a Thriller as they seem easier for us to produce, along with creating a spin on the theme - meaning we could do a silent film, black and white, grunge, action packed, drama-based or form a hybrid.

We looked at various thrillers, such as the Bourne Trilogy, Enough, The Bodyguard, Derailed. We noticed how even in the teaser, the editing was very fast paced; and the sound helped to build tension for the audience. Even the action on screen helped with this. We gathered that a thriller must have a certain pace, and set amount of action to draw the audience in and fit with the typical thriller conventions.

We also decided that we would focus the lesson on the development of our story as we realised how far behind we could get because of this. Having also analysed the websites too, and seeing what similarities they shared or differences we knew that our thriller would need to follow a strict narrative and stick to conventions such as plot-twists, fast pace, loud music etc.
